Ep. 9: Hereafter / Enter the Void / Co-Host Challenge: Rockumentary / Hitchcock Experience Wrap

October 31st, 2010

In honor of Halloween, the Moviefraud boys explore death (and life) through two new theatrical releases: Clint Eastwood's psychic drama Hereafter, starring Matt Damon, and Gaspar Noe's psychedelic meditation, Enter the Void (pictured). Then they kick off the Co-Host Challenge with two rockumentaries about Wilco and Jandek, respectively. Lastly, a semi-scholarly conclusion to the Hitchcock Experience leaves the hosts spooked at what they have - or have not - learned about the cinematic master.

Happy Halloween from Moviefraud!

Music: Wilco, "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" / Jandek, "What Can I Say, What Can I Sing" / Wilco, "Poor Places"

Ep. 8: Let Me In / Howl / Family Plot

October 17th, 2010

LMI.jpg In anticipation of Halloween, Josh forces Joey to watch a horror movie. Did Joey soil himself while watching Let Me In? You’ll have to listen to find out. Next, Joey discusses walking into Howl expecting a frightening, werewolf thriller and being pleasantly surprised that it was just an Allen Ginsberg biopic. And finally, Hitchcock’s last film before his death, Family Plot, concludes our Hitchcock Experience.

Bonus: Announcing the Moviefraud Co-Host Challenge. Did we say “announce”? We meant DROP IT LIKE A BOMB, Y’ALL.

Music: Neutral Milk Hotel – “Holland, 1945” / Tom Lehrer – “Poisoning Pigeons in the Park” / Sigur Ros – “Gobbledigook”

Ep. 7: The Social Network / Catfish / Topaz

October 3rd, 2010

The Moviefraud boys travel to Facebookland for the new Jesse Eisenberg / David Fincher film The Social Network, followed by the new Facebook-themed documentary Catfish. Then they review Alfred Hitchcock’s 1969 cold war thriller Topaz, which is surprisingly also about Facebook.

Warning! Catfish spoiler review at the end of the episode. If you don’t want it spoiled, stop listening around the 50 minute mark (after the Smashing Pumpkins outro).

Music: The Blow – “Pile of Gold” / Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – “In This Home On Ice”
