I was expecting something waay different when I went to see The Informant, but I did actually have some laugh out loud moments and thought it was a really unique comedy. I do agree with Josh that the scientific plot was a little hard to follow, but it seemed to me that lysine and the process of making it weren’t really supposed to be the main plot. It was more about how some normal guy who happens to be a pathological liar, can fool everyone around him (including the FBI)! Since this is based on a true story, it made me wonder if the FBI normally just goes around trusting random people that call them to report white collar crime. Were they really that trusting in the early 1990s? I really can’t see this happening now, with all the mistrust, doubt and cynicism that surrounds the criminal justice system.
